Supporting a tradition of health care that is approaching a century of duration, Kings Regional Health Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to support Adventist Health in providing essential health care services to the population of Kings, southern Fresno and eastern Tulare counties. Among those served by the hospitals, their clinics and ancillary services is some of California’s most indigent population, with some of the poorest health indicators in the state, including high morbidity and mortality rates for conditions including HIV and diabetes. The hospital’s service area includes some of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the state.

Adventist Health serves this population through hospital facilities and an extensive network of clinics specifically created to provide services to an otherwise under – or un-served population. Adventist Health’s work in the region has been recognized most recently by being named recipient of the Fresno Bee’s Excellence in Business award for health care in 2007, and Business Street magazine’s awarding of the “Heroes in Healthcare Award” to Central Valley Family Health, Central Valley General Hospital’s network of clinics throughout the central San Joaquin Valley.

In partnership with the hospitals, the efforts of the foundation’s supporters have led to improvements in health care services for all residents in the area. Support from the foundation has helped to double the size of the emergency room at Hanford Community Medical Center, has purchased cutting-edge laser surgical equipment, has provided transportation to ensure that hospice patients receive care, and has remodeled women’s services at Central Valley General Hospital.
